Jashoda’a Determination
Jashoda hails from Nishana village in the Dangs, Gujarat. Even though was desirous of going to college, was married forcefully to a boy younger than the prescribed age for marriage under the law. This child marriage compelled Jashoda to drop her studies in 2017-2018 despite financial support from Swapath Trust and AIF. It was a sad moment for all when Jarshoda returned her cheque explaining that her husband and in-laws did not want her to study further. Jashoda’s counselling and support from Swapath team continued, which resulted in Jashoda making up her mind to abandon her child marriage and join studies. She has now joined a primary teacher’s training course (PTC) at Vansda. She is being supported both financially and by constant guidance to shape her future. The holistic family-oriented approach and financial support of Swapath Trust resulted in Jashoda taking a reverse turn from a very negative experience in life to a journey on a self-determined path of her choice.
